The Cold Air Lingers!

The very cold air mass across the deep south continues in place for now.  More cold nights with temps down into the lower 20s are ahead.  Daytime temps will gradually climb and eventually manage to reach the 60s early next week.

In the meantime, we’re back down into the lower to mid 20s tonight.  Any areas with snow melt will refreeze overnight and continue to allow black ice to form.  Extreme cautions is advised for travel throughout our southern counties.    We’re expecting a mostly sunny sky and temps to climb well above the freezing mark Friday.  Temps will top out in the mid to upper 40s across the area.  It’s back into the deep freeze again Friday night.  It looks like another round of lower 20s are likely.

We begin to slowly make our way out of this bitter cold air mass during the upcoming weekend.  We expect some sunshine and temps to climb into the 50s for highs.  This temperature change will help thaw us out. Overnight temps will still be cold and down in the 30s.   There will be a more significant warmup early next week.  Rain will be back in the forecast but temps will warm into the mid 60s for highs.
