Late January Thaw Ahead This Week

The air mass over us is going to be a bit milder this week!  The Arctic air has retreated and we’re expecting a few spot to actually snag the 70 degree mark later in the week.  It’s the late January thaw and it couldn’t come at a better time.

High pressure will set up over the deep south for most of the week.  The high will help provide us mainly sunny and dry conditions.  Temps will respond and we’re climbing into the upper 60s to lower ;70s for highs. Overnight temps will come up as well.  We expect upper 30s to lower 40s for a few days and then upper 40s to lower 50s late week.   We’re definitely out of the deep freeze and signs are we continue mild into early next week.

The next opportunity for rain will move into the area late Thursday into Friday.  A frontal boundary will move through the region.  Looks like rain with maybe a rumble of thunder at times.  For now, we don’t see anything too strong or severe with this system. Temps drop slightly behind the frontal passage with highs down into the 60s and lows in the 40s Saturday.  It’s back to abundant sunshine and warmer temps Sunday and Monday.  We could see another surge of 70+ degree warmth returning to the areas.
