Lowndes County EMA director passes away

The family of Lowndes County Emergency Management Agency Director Rodney Rudolph has announced his death.

The family said Rudolph died yesterday after a long health battle.

A lifelong resident of Lowndes County, Rudolph’s commitment to the safety and well-being of his community was evident in his decades of service, the family said.

Prior to becoming EMA Director in 2021, he led the Lowndes County Association of Volunteer Fire Departments and served as Director for District 10 of the Alabama Association of Volunteer Fire Departments, covering multiple counties. His leadership and expertise in emergency response played a crucial role in safeguarding the county’s residents during natural disasters and crises. 

Beyond his professional service, Mr. Rudolph was a devoted champion of the youth in Lowndes County. He played a vital role in athletics and other programs within the Lowndes County School District, mentoring and supporting countless young people in their academic and extracurricular pursuits. His passion for shaping the next generation was evident in the many lives he touched. 

Above all, Mr. Rudolph was a loving son, brother, husband, father, and grandfather. His transition comes on the heels of extended health challenges, yet his unwavering dedication to his family and community remained steadfast until the end. His legacy of service, mentorship, and community dedication will be remembered for years to come.
