Global beverage company Diageo has announced plans to bring a $412 million beverage distribution plant to Montgomery.

According to the Montgomery Area Chamber of Commerce, the 360,000-square-foot facility will create more than 100 jobs and expand Montgomery’s industrial park sector to include beverage distribution.

Diageo has global brands in the spirits and beer categories. These brands include Johnnie Walker, Crown Royal, J&B and Buchanan’s whiskies, Smirnoff, Cîroc and Ketel One vodkas, Captain Morgan, Baileys, Don Julio, Tanqueray and Guinness. Its are sold in more than 180 countries.

“As an industry giant with operations that span the globe, Diageo represents an impressive addition to Alabama’s business community,” said Ellen McNair, Secretary of the Alabama Department of Commerce. “The company’s decision to establish this production facility in Montgomery signals its confidence in Alabama as a prime location to help accelerate its growth plans.”

“Diageo’s investment in its new production facility is a significant step forward for Montgomery, Montgomery County, and the state, reinforcing our position as a leader in industrial and logistics growth,” said Mayor Steven L. Reed of the City of Montgomery.

The new facility will occupy a CSX Select Site, using railroad logistics.
