Spring-like warmth through the weekend into next week, rain Friday

The very cold temperatures of last week become a distant memory Thursday. Afternoon temperatures soar into the low to mid 70s. The sky remains partly cloudy. Clouds thicken Thursday night. Temperatures remain mild, with lows only in the upper 50s to low 60s. Rain returns Friday. A band of showers and perhaps storms arrives in west Alabama during the morning. It moves into east Alabama during the afternoon.

Additional showers or storms may form in east Alabama during the afternoon. There’s a low chance a few storms may become strong. Rain and/or storms depart our area Friday evening. The weekend looks dry with sunshine. Temperatures remain warm for the start of February. Highs range from the mid to upper 60s Saturday. Temperatures warm into the low 70s Sunday.

Next week looks warm too. Monday through Wednesday look mainly dry with sunshine in the mix, if not abundant. High temperatures range from the mid to upper 70s. That’s up to 15° above average for our area in early February. Overnight temperatures remain fairly warm too, with lows in the mid to upper 50s. Rain chances increase late next week, but temperatures may warm into the 70s Thursday and Friday anyway.
