A Selma man is shot and killed in the parking lot of the Selma Walmart store Friday night.

Waka Walmartmdr0201 Vo1 Forty year old Marcus Martin was shot as he sat in his truck in the Selma Walmart parking lot and died on the scene. Now authorities are looking for his killers.

“We do have multiple suspects involved in this incident,” said Lt. Ray Blanks.

Blanks says investigators are using video footage from the store to try and identify the suspects. He says Martin was just an innocent bystander who got caught in the crossfire of a shooting that stemmed from an argument he had nothing to do with.

“Individuals got into some type of altercation inside the store. That altercation spilled out into the parking lot and that’s when the shooting occurred,” said Blanks.

Waka Walmartmdr0201 Vo“This was an isolated incident,” said store manager James Packard III.

“I’ve been the store manager here for eight years and this is the first incident of that nature.”

Packard says the safety of it’s customers — is the first and foremost concern at the store. And people can expect an increased police presence at the store — both inside and out.

Blanks says the Dallas County Task Force — the Dallas County Sheriff’s Office — the Gulf Coast Regional Task Force — and the ALEA State Bureau of Investigation — are all helping with the investigation.
