Wetumpka man killed in Elmore County crash

A Wetumpka man has been killed in a single-car crash in Elmore County.

Alabama State Troopers say 62-year-old Melvin Smith, Jr., was a passenger in a car that left the roadway and hit a tree.

Investigators say he was not using a seat belt and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver, 23-year-old Madison Glass of Millbrook, was injured and was taken to Baptist Medical Center South in Montgomery for treatment.

The crash happened on Alabama River Parkway, approximately two miles east of Prattville, at around 10:45PM last night.
