Greenville Celebrates Dr. Martin Luther King’s impact on the community

Greenville Alabama residents are celebrating the Third Annual MLK Freedom March this weekend. Commemorating Dr. Martin Luther King’s impact on Butler County.

Dr. King visited Greenville in December 1965 first speaking at Harrison Street Missionary Baptist Church then walking with residents and community leaders in a show of unity. The church now honors Dr. King each second Saturday of February with a walk that follows his exact path in reverse– from the spot in Greenville that once held a home where Dr. King rested and ate a meal to the church where he spoke.
The honorary walk begins at 12 o’clock this Saturday February 8th. Participants are asked to meet at the corner of Perdu Street and South Park Street by 11:30 a.m.
