Human remains discovered in Lee County
The Lee County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the discovery of human remains in the Salem community.
Sheriff Jay Jones says the remains were found at around 3PM yesterday in the 5000 block of Lee County Road 391. They were found about 30 feet from the road.
Jones says because of the decomposition of the remains, investigators were not able to confirm if there was any foul play involved. He said they are not confirming whether the remains are those of a man or a woman as the investigation continues.
Jones says the remains have been sent to the Alabama Department of Forensic Science for an autopsy. He says more information will be released pending the results.
