Storms capable of damaging wind and tornadoes Saturday night
Saturday was dry, warm, and breezy. However, severe storms remain possible Saturday night, capable of damaging wind gusts and tornadoes. In fact, the severe weather risk level increased across our area. The Storm Prediction Center now places most of our area within an enhanced (level 3/5) risk. Models still suggest storms may not arrive in our west Alabama counties until midnight (12AM).
Storms move quickly east overnight. They likely exit east into Georgia between 4 and 5AM Sunday. Clouds linger Sunday morning, but some sunshine returns during the afternoon. Temperatures likely fall throughout the day. Winds become brisk out of the north to northwest behind a cold front. Sunday night lows fall into the low to mid 30s.
Next week remains cooler, feeling winter-like again. Monday and Tuesday look partly to mostly sunny, with highs in the 50s Monday and low 60s Tuesday. Rain looks fairly likely Wednesday. Thursday and Friday look dry but colder again, with highs in the 50s and lows in the 30s. Temperatures stay cool next weekend. For now, Saturday and Sunday look mainly dry with a partly cloudy sky each day.
