Mardi Gras parade rolls through Millbrook
Beads and moon pies were flying to revelers in the streets of Millbrook today as they hosted their annual Mardi Gras celebration. The town’s annual Mardi Gras parade kicked off at noon but the festivities started at 9am. Revelers came to the umbrella stroll at 10am where they walked along to festive music.
Food vendors from Florida, Georgia and the River Region filled the Village Green center as guests enjoyed Cajun cuisine, a rock climbing wall, and kid-friendly rides including zip-lining and pony rides. The parade started at the Smoke House on Main Street and included appearances from the Mardi Gras King Walter Dodd and Queen Sheila Wood and Action 8 Rising Anchor Savanna Sabb and reporter Carrington Cole.
There were about 100 floats and groups who participated in this year’s parade. In the past, it has been recognized by Southern Living Magazine as the largest Mardi Gras parade north of Mobile.
