Residents throughout Alabama woke up this morning to damage from last night’s severe weather.

Macon East Academy in Cecil was one of those areas hit hard.

Volunteers were on-hand Sunday to help clean up the damage left behind from the storm.

Headmaster Glynn Lott said the school received damaged to the athletic facilities, including the baseball and softball fields and the playground.

Lott said due to the Presidents Day holiday, school is out tomorrow.

The National Weather Service in Birmingham has not confirmed if the damage was caused by straight line winds or a possible tornado.
