Overnight storms leave tens of thousands without power in our area

Alabama Power says tens of thousands of its customers in our area, and more than 100,000 statewide, woke up without power Sunday morning.

At 11:00 a.m., 22,000 Alabama Power customers are without power in central Alabama and 73,000 are without power statewide as a result of overnight severe weather. Reports of damage include broken poles and downed wire as a result of fallen trees. Crews are actively working to restore service as safely and quickly as possible.

For central Alabama, outages exist throughout the area:

Tallapoosa County – 6,050 customers

Elmore County – 3,050 customers

Montgomery County – 2,450 customers

Chilton County – 2,400 customers

Lee County – 1,700 customers

Dallas County – 1,300 customers

Perry County – 1,200 customers

Lowndes County – 1,100 customers

Butler County – 1,025 customers

Wilcox County – 1,000 customers

Autauga County – 750 customers

Fewer outages also exist in Wilcox and Bullock Counties.
