CAMPAIGN 2026: Wes Allen to run for lieutenant governor
CAMPAIGN 2026: Alabama Secretary of State Wes Allen says he will run for lieutenant governor.
In a statement, he said he would seek the Republican nomination for governor next year. He is currently serving as the state’s 54th secretary of state. Allen has also served as the Pike County probate judge and a member of the Alabama House of Representatives.
“I am incredibly proud of the work we have accomplished in the Secretary of State’s office,” Allen said. “From cleaning up our voter rolls to creating and launching the most effective voter integrity database in the country to ensuring that business owners across our state have their needs met efficiently and effectively.
“The Lt. Governor seat will be an open seat in the 2026 election and I believe it is time for me to take my record of conservative, effective leadership to that office.”
Current Lt. Gov. Will Ainsworth is serving his second term and can’t run for a third consecutive term to that office by state law.
Alabama’s primaries are May 19, 2026.
