Storm damage cleanup underway in Dallas, Perry and Montgomery counties

Cleanup is underway in several counties in our area after severe storms blew through late Saturday night and early Sunday morning.

Dallas County EMA Director Toya Crusoe says a downed tree caused major damage to a mobile home in the 400 block of Providence Avenue. Another tree fell on power lines.

In Perry County, EMA Director Deandre Kimbrough says a tornado blew the roof of an unidentified structure onto some power lines, knocking out power to 60% of the county. He says people were also left without water because water pumps were without power.

In extreme eastern Montgomery County, Macon East Academy in Cecil was hit hard. Volunteers were on-hand Sunday to help clean up the damage left behind from the storm. Headmaster Glynn Lott said the school received damaged to the athletic facilities, including the baseball and softball fields and the playground.
