Woman charged with stealing $30,000 from Marbury football booster club

Prattville police say a woman has been charged with stealing $30,000 from the football booster club at Marbury School.

Police say the theft was reported from the booster club’s bank account in September of 2024. They say they learned that  Melanie Morrison, who was the treasurer for the booster club at the time of the theft, had transferred more than $30,000 to her personal bank accounts through various transactions.

Police say the thefts occurred in a time span of over two years.

Police say they got a warrant on Melanie Morrison for theft of property in the first degree. They say Morrison turned herself in yesterday and has since bonded out.
