Arctic Air Remains Over The Area For Now
Another round of Arctic air has invaded the deep south. This will be a brief cold snap but the cold temps will be dangerous and you will need to follow those cold weather safety tips. It’s basically the four P’s (people, pets, pipes, and plants).
You will notice the much colder air continuing to flow into the area on those gusty northwest winds. We’re expecting 5 to 10 mph winds and that will turn out wind chills in the teens overnight into early Friday morning. We suggest you dress in layers to combat the frigid air. The clouds will gradually clear out and we’re back into a sunny sky Thursday. Despite the sunshine, temps will struggle to reach the 40 degree mark Thursday afternoon. The cold air will linger over us into the first half of the weekend. Temps will fall into the lower to mid 20s for lows early Friday morning. Another sunny day is on tap for us and temps do recover into the upper 40s to lower 50s for highs Friday afternoon.
The rest of the upcoming weekend is looking mainly sunny and dry with temps beginning to head in the right direction. Daytime highs will reach the upper 50s to lower 60s and overnight lows in the lower to mid 30s. We enter into a warming trend starting early next week. A mainly sunny sky will help temps warm into the 70s by Tuesday. We could even see mid 70s by Wednesday.
