Judson College library damaged in Sunday afternoon fire

Fire and smoke damages a building on the campus of Judson College Sunday afternoon.

Fire fighters found heavy smoke coming from the basement floor of Bowling Library when they arrived.

They were able to contain and extinguished the fire — and prevent it from spreading.

The upper floors of the building did however receive some smoke damage.

There were no injuries reported. And the cause of the fire remains under investigation.

The all-women’s college closed its doors about four years ago.
