Early morning house fire leaves Valley Grande family homeless

A Dallas County family is homeless tonight — following a house fire Tuesday morning in Valley Grande.

Waka Vgfire0225 VoThe fire was heavily involved when firefighters arrived on the scene.

The family who lived in the house lost nearly everything they own in the fire.

“You can’t find the right words just to put on a feeling. And it’s just loss. It’s gone,” said fire victim Shakenyia Pullom.

“I was just happy that my boys wasn’t there. None of us was there. Material things can be replaced, but a life cannot be replaced.”

Firefighters from Valley Grande, Summerfield, Plantersville, Selma and the Dallas County Rescue Squad helped to put out the fire.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
