Millbrook police say a woman who is a repeat DUI offender has been arrested for attempting to elude officers and for another DUI charge.

Police say 26-year-old Alexis Wright of Millbrook is charged with attempting to elude, driving under the influence and reckless endangerment.

Unfortunately, the alleged offender in this case has a previous history of driving under the influence and in fact was on probation, having been previously convicted of manslaughter as a result of a traffic collision, which resulted in a passenger’s death,” Millbrook Police Chief P.K. Johnson said.

Johnson said on Saturday, February 22, police got a complaint of an SUV speeding on Highway 143. The person who reported the SUV said it had caused him to run off the road, Johnson said.

Johnson said the SUV was spotted on Chapman Road, near Magnolia Estates, travelling with its headlights off. The police officer activated his emergency equipment in an attempt to stop the vehicle. He said Wright turned on the headlights but refused to stop until she reached her home in the 400 block of Magnolia Loop.

Wright is being held in the Elmore County Jail on a $3,000 bond.

Johnson said both the Elmore County District Attorney’s Office and probation officials have been made aware of Wright’s arrest and are reviewing the case.
