Man arrested in Lee County shooting

Jerry JacobsA suspect is in custody following a shooting in Lee County late last month.

Sheriff Jay Jones tells Action 8 News that the shooting happened around 11:32 p.m. on February 25 in the 200 block of Lee Road 375 in the Valley community.

Once his deputies arrived, they found an adult male lying in the yard waving his arms. The victim had visible injuries to his torso, leg, arm and hand on his right side.

The victim told deputies that he was shot by his next door neighbor following an argument earlier that night.

The victim was taken to Piedmont Medical Center in Columbus, Georgia to be treated for his injuries.

Earlier Thursday, deputies say a Valley man admitted to the shooting.

46-year-old Jerry Franklin Jacobs was arrested by Lee County Investigators and taken to the Lee County Detention Facility.

Jacobs has been charged with First Degree Assault and later released after positing a $50,000 bond.
