South Alabama Battles wildfires following Increased Wind Gusts

Firefighters across South Alabama battle wildfires following increased wind gusts and dangerous burning conditions. The state of Alabama reached a record high of wildfires.

On the brink of a major storm system Alabama experienced a record breaking number of wildfires in South Alabama, fires in both Lowndes and Butler Counties blaze.

Firefighters use fire lines to help stop the spread of wildfires but that system is sometimes met with resistance as high winds spread the fire across the wirelines, creating new fires to battle. In this way fires spread to nearly every county in the state.
