Pickleball courts coming to East Montgomery
Pickleball courts will soon be coming to East Montgomery.
The City of Montgomery held a groundbreaking ceremony Friday for the new courts at Dean Fain Park, just off Minnie Brown Road.
The city plans to build 12 state-of-the-art courts at the 40-acre sports complex that will feature Musco Sports lightning, high quality acrylic surfaces and a player-friendly design for all skill levels.
Mayor Steven Reed tells Action 8 News that the $920,000 design and construction is Phase 1 of the project with Phase 2 currently in the works.
“We want to make sure that you understand this project is more than just being about courts,” said Mayor Reed. It’s about community. It’s about giving families, seniors, and athletes a place to gather to stay active and build connections through theacef sport of pickleball.”
The new pickleball courts are expected to open in October.
