Feeling More Like Spring This Week

It’s going to feel more like spring across the area this week.  High pressure will be just to our south over the gulf and we’re expecting pleasant conditions through at least midweek.  There will be two rounds of rain ahead.  One comes through here Thursday and another Saturday into Sunday.  The second round will be our next threat for strong to severe storms.

In the meantime,  we’re expecting a clear sky with temps cooling into the lower 40s overnight.  Abundant sunshine is back and we’re climbing into the mid to upper 70s Tuesday afternoon.  More spring-like warmth will continue into Wednesday. Some spots could even snag the 80 degree mark.

Our next rain maker will be a frontal boundary moving through the area Thursday.  Right now, we don’t see anything too strong or severe with this system.  We’re looking at rain along with some thunder at times with this round.  We catch a break from the rain activity Friday.  We’re right back into sunshine and 80+ degree warmth.  It will be a very nice start to the weekend but it won’t stay that way.

The upcoming weekend will be next opportunity for rain.  Another frontal system will work into the deep south.  This system will be stronger and we’re expecting a severe weather threat Saturday into early Sunday.  The main threats will be damaging winds, tornadoes, and large hail.  It’s the spring storm season and everyone will need to be weather aware this weekend.  Be sure to check back with us for updates on this severe storm threat throughout the week.
