Kiwanis Club of Montgomery presents more than $345,000 in grants from Alabama National Fair proceeds
The Kiwanis Club of Montgomery has presented more than $345,000 in grants to 21 charities based on money the club raised from putting on the Alabama National Fair.
The grants were presented at a luncheon in downtown Montgomery today.
Many charities say they have had their funding cut recently, and these grants will help those organizations continue providing services to the community.
“We support all these charities, but it’s also an economic impact,” Alabama National Fair Executive Director Randy Stephenson said. “The economic impact in a city, in the county and in the surrounding areas is huge, so you take all this in and the fair is a big, big partner to the city, county of Montgomery.”
Since 1955, the Kiwanis Club of Montgomery has donated more than $10.5 million to charity.
