Several Rounds Of Rain And Storms Ahead
It’s going to feel more like spring across the area this week. High pressure will be just to our south over the gulf and we’re expecting pleasant conditions through at least midweek. There will be multiple rounds of rain and storms ahead. One comes through here Thursday and a few more Friday night through Sunday morning. The rounds will be stronger to severe over the weekend.
In the meantime, we’re expecting a clear sky with temps cooling into the mid 40s overnight. Abundant sunshine is back and we’re climbing into the mid to upper 70s Wednesday afternoon. Some spots could even snag the 80 degree mark.
Our next rain maker will be a frontal boundary moving through the area Thursday. There could be a few strong to possibly severe storms during the afternoon. The main threats will be damaging wind gust up to 60 mph and quarter size hail. We catch a break from the rain activity Friday. We’re right back into sunshine and 80+ degree warmth. It will be a very nice start to the weekend but it won’t stay that way.
The upcoming weekend will be next opportunity for rain. Another frontal system will work into the deep south. This system will be stronger and we’re expecting a severe weather threat late Friday through early Sunday. The main threats will be damaging winds, tornadoes, and large hail. It’s the spring storm season and everyone will need to be weather aware this weekend. Be sure to check back with us for updates on this severe storm threat throughout the week.
