More storm shelters are preparing to open for the severe weather threat.
ELMORE COUNTY:
Message from the Elmore Co. EMA:
When there is a threat of severe weather for Elmore County: The EMA office will activate our Safer Places IF we are placed under a Tornado Watch. When we activate the Safer Places, they respond to let us know if they can open. We will then update our website map and post the locations that are opening on our social media pages. NWS Birmingham tries to issue tornado watches 3-5 hours before they expect the severe weather to arrive. That should be time to receive the information and to get to a Safer Place before the main threat arrives.

Selma High School will be open by 2PM, possibly earlier depending on weather conditions.
TROY:
The Troy Recreation Center will open at 2:00PM on Saturday, March 15, and it will remain open until the threat passes, which should be early Sunday morning.
