Troy police have taken a Tuskegee man into custody after they say he attempted to steal items from an area that had been severely damaged by the storms this weekend.

Police Chief Danny Barron says 54-year-old Alphonso Lark was arrested after they received a report that he was taking items from the 7000 block of US 29 North.

According to court records, Lark stole a hot water heater, fireplace, electronic equipment and other items and took them to a recycling center in Brantley to sell. The value of the items was greater than $500.

Lark was taken into custody and transported to the Troy City Hail for processing before being transferred to the Pike County Jail. The felony looting charge came with a $2,500 bond.
