More Plantersville tornado survivors share harrowing stories

Clean-up efforts continue in the Plantersville community in the aftermath of powerful EF-3 tornado that hit the area this past weekend.

Crews are hard at work in the area clearing debris and restoring power to homes.

Piles of debris and twisted aluminum now line a 7-mile stretch of County Road 63 in Plantersville.

One house along the road — had it’s roof completely torn off.

Wal Pvillefolo0318 Pkg“That’s where I live,” said Menzo Jackson.

The 76 year old was at home when the tornado came through.

“The house started vibrating. And you hear the house cracking. It did that for about three times. And on that third time, it pulled, and just like sucked the roof right up off of there — and tossed it,” said Jackson.

“Thank God it didn’t just take me with the roof, cause it could have. I said Lord save me. Save me Lord. And I guess he did. I guess He said, I’ll hear this fool this fool this time.”

Priscilla Furlow was home with her husband during the tornado.

It downed several trees around their home — and nearly tore off it’s roof as well.

“In the bedroom area near the bathroom, you can see where the roof was giving way, pulling up,” said Furlow.

“It just was really terrifying to hear the wind and feel the house actually moving and vibrating back and forth like it want to give way. So, we just took cover in the restroom with pillows over our head until it passed. It was a very horrifying experience.”
