Meadowview Christian School in Selma won’t reopen next fall

From the West Alabama Newsroom–

A private Christian school in Selma is closing its doors after more than 50 years — due to a steady decline in student enrollment.

Meadowview Christian School won’t be re-opening next fall.

Waka Mcsclosing0326 SotvoSchool officials say declining student enrollment is forcing the school to close its doors.

They say as enrollment has dropped — so has the school’s financial resources.

The announcement has caught people in the community by surprise.

“I don’t like it at all that they’re closing. Everything in Selma is closing down,” said Wanda Scott.

“It’s a shame to hear. And it’s a little hard to swallow. It really is,” said Burton Fisher.

Fisher graduated from Meadowview Christian School in 1993.

“It’s very unfortunate. A lot of history at the school. It’s been around for a long time. It’s a shame to see it go away.”

Meadowview Christian has been providing a Christian education for students in the Selma area — since 1970.
