An Opelika mother is charged with leaving her two babies alone in an unlocked, running car.

Lee County Sheriff Jay Jones says at about 9:30AM yesterday, someone reported to deputies that two infants had been left alone in their car seats in a vehicle in the parking lot of the Lee County Justice Center. Deputies found the babies.

Jones says their mother, 24-year-old Sh’nyia A’Zebria Glaze, was found in the Justice Center and asked about the children. He says she became agitated and argued with deputies, saying leaving the babies alone was no big deal.

Jones says Glaze was arrested for outstanding warrants and charged with two counts each of endangering the welfare of a child and reckless endangerment. Deputies believe the children had been left alone for about 10 minutes.

A family member was contacted to pick up the children. Jones says the Alabama Department of Human Resources was notified.

Glaze has been released from the Lee County Jail on a $5,000 bond.
