Showers, storms through Sunday; Severe storms possible Monday

Saturday’s weather was a mixed bag across central and south Alabama. The sky was rather cloudy for most for much of the day, but sunshine was abundant in the capital city for a short time during the afternoon. Meanwhile, some showers and occasional storms moved across west Alabama during the afternoon. Showers and storms remain scattered about Saturday night into Sunday morning.

Rain and rumbles continue throughout Sunday. It looks like rain and storms taper off Sunday night. However, another round of storms arrives Monday morning. Some of these storms may be severe, capable of damaging winds and perhaps a few tornadoes. These storms move northwest to southeast across our area, departing Monday afternoon. Tuesday looks dry and cooler with some sunshine.

Temperatures trend very warm by the end of next week. It looks like high temperatures could be in the upper 80s Friday, if not on Thursday. Otherwise, Wednesday through Friday look partly cloudy, with stray to isolated showers possible each day. Rain coverage may remain somewhat isolated next weekend. Meanwhile, temperatures may trend cooler early in the following week.
