ADOC graduates largest class of correctional officers on record

The first graduating class of correctional officers in Alabama is setting records.

The Alabama Department of Corrections said Thursday’s graduation featuring 144 men and women is the largest class on record.

The ceremony was held in Montgomery at Church of the Highlands.

The officers satisfactorily completed 10 consecutive weeks of training to obtain Alabama Peace Officers’ Standard and Training Commission (APOSTC) certification in order to become correctional officers.

ADOC says increased correctional officers starting salaries, weekly hiring events, targeted recruiting, and improved workforce Alabama  partnerships have been vital to its recent success.
