Near-record warm weather Friday and Saturday, storms Sunday
Thursday was another very warm early April day. High temperatures were in the mid to upper 80s. Montgomery tied the April 3rd record high temperature of 87° from 1999, 2014, and 2015. Clouds increase again Thursday night. Temperatures remain warm, with lows in the upper 60s. Friday begins mainly cloudy, but the morning deck of low clouds gradually erodes again. With sunshine later in the day, temperatures warm to near-record territory again.
Saturday’s weather plays out similarly to Friday’s. A couple brief stray showers appear possible each day. However, the vast majority of our area remains completely rain-free each day. Sunday’s weather look different. A cold front pushes into Alabama, sending a line or cluster of rain and storms west to east across our area. Some storms could be strong to severe, capable of damaging winds a perhaps a few tornadoes.
The severe risk winds down Sunday night, but rain lingers across southeast Alabama through early Monday morning. The rest of the day and Tuesday and Wednesday look mainly dry and mainly sunny. Temperatures turn colder behind Sunday’s cold front. High temperatures range from the low to mid 70s Monday through Thursday. Low temperatures fall into the 40s several nights next week. A small chance for rain returns Thursday into Friday.
