Rivers of Alabama Day celebrated in Montgomery
Rivers of Alabama Day is being celebrated in Montgomery.
An event was held Tuesday at Red Bluff Bar.
River enthusiasts raised a toast to Alabama’s 132,000 miles of rivers and streams.
Last year, the city of Montgomery joined the state and other municipalities in declaring the second Tuesday in April as Rivers of Alabama day.
“Alabama has the most navigable miles of freshwater than any state in the country, which is infrastructure that we can use to help grow our cities to create better quality of life opportunities for our residents and really just kind of tap into this growing ecotourism market that we have here in the state,” Montgomery City Council member Andrew Szymanski told Action 8 News.
