Brothers arrested in Opelika rape case
An immigration detainer has been put on two brothers following a rape investigation in Opelika.
Police say 20-year-old Artemio Garcia Perez was arrested today by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and U.S. Customs and Border Protection at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport.
Police say he will be extradited to Lee County where he will be charged with rape in the first degree.
During the investigation, Artemio’s Perez’s brother, Jose Luis Maldonado Perez, was arrested for hindering prosecution in the first degree, police say.
