Montgomery police open death investigation after man dies from gunshot wound

Montgomery police are investigating the death of a man.

Sgt. Tina McGriff tells Action 8 News that around 8:49 p.m. on Friday, officers and fire medics responded to the 1500 block of Hale Street on a person shot.

Once they arrived, they found an adult male victim, identified as 36-year-old Travis Jackson, of Montgomery, with a life-threatening gunshot wound. Jackson was taken to a local hospital where he later died from his injuries.

Police say as of right now, it is being treated as a death investigation. No other information was made available.
