Well-known Montgomery attorney dies at 78
A well-known Montgomery attorney has died.
According to a family friend, Julian McPhillips died Saturday after a long battle with an illness.
McPhillips was the senior partner, president and founding attorney of McPhllips Shinbaum, LLP, a personal injury law firm in Montgomery dating back to 1978.
McPhlllips was known as “the People’s Lawyer,” a name he earned for his style of work, a series of lawsuits over four decades helping average people battle discrimination and other unfair treatment, according to the law firm’s website.
In addition to his notable career, McPhillips and his wife, Leslie, founded The Scott and Zelda Fitzgerald Museum in Montgomery.
McPhillips is survived by his wife and three grown children. Funeral arrangements have not yet been announced.
Julian McPhillips was 78 years old.
