A Selma family celebrates a major milestone in the life of the family matriarch.

Mrs. Ida Mae Hollaway is turning 100 years old this weekend — and her family is putting together a huge birthday bash in her honor.

Waka 100thbirthday0425 PkgHollaway was born on April 27th 1925. And this Sunday will mark her 100th birthday.

She’s lived long enough now to meet her great-great grandson Kingsley. And together — they represent 5 generations of the Hollaway family.

“There are so many things that I could tell you that I learned from my grandmother that I’m doing everyday of my life. She taught us so much,” said granddaughter Camella Hollaway.

“She’s a loving family person, she’s a great Christian,” said son-in-law Robert Davis.

The Centenarian Birthday Celebration is Saturday at 4 pm at the Selma Convention Center downtown.

In 1925 — the year Hollaway was born — Calvin Coolidge was President. Eggs were fifty-five cents a dozen — a loaf of bread was ninety cents — and you could buy a brand new house — for only $3800 dollars.
