A man has been sentenced to 30 years in prison for a murder and attempted murder that happened in the Grady community of Montgomery County in 2020.

Demarcus Parker has been sentenced for the murder of Tyler Price and the attempted murder of Natalie Gibson, Montgomery County District Attorney Azzie Oliver has announced.

Prosecutors say in the early morning hours of April 25, 2020, Parker drove from Montgomery to Gibson’s home, which is about 25 miles south of Montgomery. Upon arrival, they say he saw and shot Price, then fired rounds into the house, striking Gibson in the back. Her children were also inside the home at the time of the shooting but were unharmed.

Price died of his injuries.

Parker pleaded guilty earlier this month to murder and was sentenced this week by Judge Brooke Reid to 30 years in prison.

“Demarcus Parker shot two innocent people. What he did was truly malicious,” District Attorney Oliver said. “Ms. Gibson’s life has been forever altered by his senseless actions, and Mr. Price’s
family must endure the constant pain of losing their loved one to gun violence. I am grateful to my team and the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office for working vigorously to get justice for both of them. My office is committed to ensuring that the only outcome for people who commit violent crimes is being locked away in prison for a very long time.”
