Kangaroo blamed for crash on Interstate 85 in Macon County

Investigators say it appears a wayward kangaroo is to blame for a two-car crash on Interstate 85 in Macon County.

State troopers say the crash happened at around 11:50AM in the southbound lanes of I-85 near the 46 mile marker, just south of the Lee County line. The crash led to the temporary closure of both sides of the interstate.

Eventually, state troopers and the kangaroo’s owner recovered the animal, which was not hurt.

The interstate has reopened.
