Reward increased in 1998 Elmore County cold case disappearance

The reward leading for information leading to an arrest in a 1998 disappearance of an Elmore County woman has increased.

Central Alabama CrimeStoppers says on April 26, 1998, 30-year-old Traci Pittman Kegley, left her home in Eclectic heading to a gas station at the corner of U.S. 231 North and Redland Road in Wetumpka. At the time, Kegley had her two year old daughter with her.

The following morning, Kegley’s 1993 Geo Storm was found abandoned on Old Georgia Road across from the T&H Grocery, with Kegley’s daughter left unattended inside.

Police say Kegley’s personal items, including her purse and identification, were found at the scene. Kegley has not been heard from since.

On February 25, 2018, a search warrant was executed in Elmore County, based on information from confidential sources received from CrimeStoppers, leading law enforcement to believe evidence may be found pertaining to a missing person’s case from 1998.

As a result of this warrant, a major search of approximately 300 acres of property in eastern Elmore County is being searched by multiple law enforcement agencies. No other information was made available.

Central Alabama CrimeStoppers has increased its reward from $1,000 to $5,000, which now makes the total reward sit at $15,000. The remaining $10,000 comes from the Governor’s Office.
