Biscuits top Lookouts 8-3 in final game of series

The Montgomery Biscuits rebounded from an 8-1 loss in the opener to win the second game of Sunday’s doubleheader 8-3 against the Chattanooga Lookouts at Riverwalk Stadium.

Starting pitcher Brody Hopkins set the tone early, striking out two Lookouts batters in a scoreless first inning.

The Biscuits’ offense came alive in the bottom half. Matthew Etzel reached first base and successfully stole second with a diving slide. During the same at-bat, Tampa Bay Rays prospect Brayden Taylor placed a soft hit that dropped between three Lookouts defenders, allowing Etzel to score from second.

Tatem Levins followed with a line drive to center field that brought Taylor, a 2023 first-round draft pick, home standing up.

The Biscuit went on to build an 8-3 victory, salvaging a split after dropping the first game of the doubleheader.

The Lookouts take the series 4-2.

What’s Next for the Biscuits

The Biscuits hit the road for a 6-game series with the Rocket City Trash Pandas beginning Tuesday.
