Montgomery Kidney Walk brings out hundreds despite rainy weather
The annual Montgomery Kidney Walk and Celebration went on as scheduled despite rainy conditions.
The rain was steady at Riverwalk Stadium yesterday morning. This year, the walk was held around the perimeter at the Montgomery Biscuits baseball field.
They celebrated the Alabama Kidney Foundation’s 50th anniversary, meeting their goal of raising $195,000, an achievement which was announced at the end of the walk.
“The Alabama Kidney Foundation could not exist without our supporters, our hard-working walk teams, our team captains, our corporate partners throughout the community,’ AKF Regional Director Shannon Morrell told Action 8 News. “We couldn’t exist without them and because of their support through literally five decades, we’re able to continue to help more kidney disease patients in need.’
This year’s walk was in memory of Willie Ruth Crenshaw-Love, who was recognized for the incredible work she did.
There were vendors at the event passing out literature about kidney disease and transplants
