Montgomery police have made an arrest in connection to a rape investigation at Blount Cultural Park.

41-year-old Corrace Calloway is charged with first degree rape that occurred around 11:20 a.m. on April 5, 2025, near Windsor Downs Court.

Calloway was identified as the suspect and taken into custody on May 5.

Additionally, Montgomery police say Calloway was found in possession of a firearm and charged with Certain Persons Forbidden to Possess a Firearm due to prior felony convictions.

According to court records obtained by Action 8 News, Calloway was arrested in 2018 for the stabbing death of his girlfriend, Selina Powell, in Wetumpka. He later plead guilty to a manslaughter charge.

Court records say he was sentenced to 15 years in prison.

Action 8 has reached out to the Elmore County District Attorney’s Office to find out why Calloway was out of prison.

Montgomery police say during his arrest, he briefly escaped custody, but was apprehended following a short foot pursuit. Police also charged him with Third Degree Escape.

He is currently in the Montgomery County Detention Facility.

The circumstances remain under investigation.
