Duty to Intervene Training

In early April, CrimeStoppers in collaboration with The Tribal Police Department of the Porch Creek Indians hosted a duty to intervene training session for law enforcement officers.
The training was held at Crimestoppers at 501 Cloverdale Road Suite 201 in Montgomery Alabama and instructed by the North Alabama Public Service Training Center ( University of North Alabama).
The purpose of the course is to train, encourage, and empower law enforcement personnel to actively intervene when needed to prevent colleagues from committing policy and procedural mistakes, unethical, or criminal conduct.
CrimeStoppers will be hosting a Duty to Intervene Class on April 3rd and 4th 2025 . 6 hours CEU’s will be given. The class will be from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm, located at the CrimeStoppers office at 501 Cloverdale Road Suite 201 Montgomery Al.
Take Action: Make the R.I.G.H.T. Choice and Intervene is a course intended to train, encourage, and empower law enforcement personnel to actively intervene when needed to prevent colleagues from committing policy or procedure mistakes or unprofessional, unethical, or criminal conduct. Intervening is critical for officer safety and wellness and community trust. This curriculum was developed for law enforcement officers of all ranks and experience, including basic entry-level recruits. Through facilitated discussions, group activities, and role-play exercises, the course participants will analyze what inhibits officers from intervening, recognize law enforcement-specific barriers to effective intervention, examine duty to intervene legal standards for law enforcement, and identify key benefits of an effective intervention.
