Gov. Kay Ivey honors five businesses for international trade
Gov. Kay Ivey has recognized five Alabama companies for their international success.
At a ceremony at the Alabama Capitol yesterday, the governor presented each company with the 2025 Governor’s Trade Excellence Award. It honors the companies for their global achievements and elevating the state’s economy.
The five companies are Central Steel Service, SEA Wire and Cable, Silver Ships, Special Shapes Refractory Company and System Studies & Simulation, Inc.
Gov. Ivey also recognized the impact that Mercedes-Benz has had on the state’s global business reputation. The automaker has an assembly plant near Tuscaloosa.
“They hail from all across our great state, from the Tennessee Valley to the Gulf of America, they represent a diverse mix of the state’s business community from aerospace to defense, from metals to advanced manufacturing in shipbuilding, they form a vital part of Alabama’s team of global competitive industries,” Gov. Ivey said.
