Man sentenced to more than 100 years in prison after child sex conviction
A man has been sentenced to more than 100 years in prison after being convicted of a long list of sex charges involving children in Chilton County.
District Attorney CJ Robinson said Kenneth Stevenson of Alabaster was convicted in February of rape, sodomy, two counts of incest, two counts of sexual abuse and two counts of enticing a child for immoral purposes.
Robinson said Circuit Judge Joy Pace Booth sentenced Stevenson to a total of 130 years in prison. He received 35 years for rape, 35 years for sodomy and two 10-year sentences for each count of incest. He said these sentences will run consecutive to each other resulting in him actually serving 100 years in prison.
Additionally, Robinson said Stevenson received 40 years for the lesser charges which will run concurrent with each other and consecutive to the Class A felonies.
Robinson said the victims in this case were 13 and eight years old at the time of the abuse, and he said prosecutors were able to prove Stevenson sexually abused both victims on different occasions. On at least one occasion, Robinson said Stevenson sexually abused the victims at the same time and forced them to commit sexual acts on one another.
“It is never easy to take on a case of this type and spend hours reviewing evidence and witness testimony of such sickening criminal acts,” Robinson said. “The strength it took for the victims to stand up to this monster is unimaginable, and they are heroes. The facts of this case should disgust us all and if the death penalty were available as a punishment for his crimes, he 100% deserves it.”
