Hot and dry Friday, a few strong storms possible this weekend

Friday morning began with a low deck of clouds overhead. However, they quickly mixed out with sunshine by the late morning. The rest of Friday looks partly to mostly sunny, hot, and dry. Temperatures warm into the low 90s, with higher heat indices. Showers and storms may move through the north part of Alabama Friday night into Saturday morning. However, our area remains mainly dry, though clouds increase again late, with lows near 70°.

Showers or storms appear possible this weekend. However, rain coverage remains isolated Saturday and Sunday afternoon. Although, a few storms may become strong to severe. The northern part of our area lies within a marginal (level 1/5) severe risk from the Storm Prediction Center each day. A damaging wind gust or hail may occur. However, many locations may not see rain at all this weekend.

Otherwise, each day look partly to mostly sunny, at least each afternoon. Temperatures warm to around 90° both days. Next week begins dry Monday and Tuesday. Afternoon temperatures remain hot, with highs in the low 90s. Showers or storms appear possible Wednesday, as a cold front approaches Alabama. The front may push through and southeast of our area, ushering in drier and cooler air late next week.
