Troy man killed in head-on crash in Pike County

A Troy man has been killed in a two-vehicle head-on crash in Pike County.

Alabama State Troopers say 58-year-old James Thompson was killed when the SUV he was driving hit a pickup truck driven by 57-year-old Robert Wise of Luverne. Investigators say Thompson wasn’t using a seat belt and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Wise was injured and was taken to Southeast Health in Dothan for treatment.

The crash happened at about 7:45AM today on U.S. Highway 29, about eight miles north of Luverne.
